Gouté ("we", "us", or "our") is a personal food journal app. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
1. Data We Collect
Data you provide:
- Account information — When you sign in with Apple, we receive an anonymous user identifier and, optionally, your name and email address (only if you choose to share them).
- Places & visits — Restaurant names, locations, ratings, notes, and visit dates you save.
- Photos — Images you capture or select from your photo library to attach to a place.
- Wishlist items — Places you save for later.
Data collected automatically:
- Location — With your permission, we access your location to show nearby places and to help you pin visits. We do not track your location in the background.
- Device information — Basic diagnostics provided by Apple (crash logs, performance data) if you have opted in via iOS settings.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To store and sync your places, visits, photos, and wishlist across your devices.
- To display nearby restaurants on the map.
- To authenticate your account.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
3. Cloud Sync & Storage
If you sign in, your data is synced to our servers powered by Supabase (hosted on AWS). Photos are stored in Supabase Storage. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
If you use the app without signing in, all data stays on your device.
